SPINDLES!   Damage to a spindle is common, some ground hates mowers, unless you have soft rocks, or soft tree roots, something has to give occasionally. When the damage is to the spindle housing, a new one must be put on, and replacing with an expensive 'factory original' part is not your only option.  In fact   heavy duty spindles are available from aftermarket suppliers.  Murray and Craftsman are two examples of mowers with thicker casted spindle housings.
